Opal, considered the ''queen of gems,'' can flash patterns of color representing every hue of the rainbow. Believed by ancient peoples to actually contain fire, opal has long been ascribed many mystical and healing properties. The rainbow of fire is produced by the diffraction of white light through a micro-structure of silica spheres. Each size sphere reflects light of a different wavelength. This sterling silver ring is set with an inlay of a matrix of iridescent white opal. Handcrafted by Leon Nussbaum, our London silversmith, of pure British sterling silver, it will appear to flicker and change with every movement of the wearer. Available in sizes 6-10.
