Just received the earth paper weight & lighted base. I wasn't sure about the lighted base as there wasn't much of a description about the functions/details of the lights/colors/physical parameters other than a generic "it's wonderful and works fine highlighting these spherical bases". There are several photos accentuating many of the celestial/spherical paper weights offered that appear dazzling. With this said the only paper weight that doesn't appear in the pictorial description was that of planet earth. Of course this one cost 25% more than the others but so what, it's earth, our planet, our home so one would assume that out of all the pieces shown in the pics, ie., planets/celestial bodies & miscellaneous pieces of artistic interpretations the planet earth would really be dramatic--- "Nottttt"... It was a real disappointment. First of all the base doesn't provide a constant or single light source (which is fine if you're wanting a psychedelic light show. It slowly varies from a combination of blues and reds. So if you are expecting to see highlights of other color spectrums, ie., whites, greens, yellows, etc., (as in the case of the planet earth) you're out of luck.So my planet earth pulsates in the color ranges of blue, red, blue, red, blue, red &blue. The expected white color polar regions of my earth are a molten red/orange. So I guess it's true that we really are experiencing global warming :(, In summary, The only color highlights that the base will exhibit will probably be red/orange & blues and would possibly be acceptable on paperweight spheres that are dominate in those color ranges. Purchase with caution. Thanks for your review and thoughts on the combination of the Earth piece with the lighted base! Feel free to give us a call if you would like to exchange it for a non lighted pedestal for display.Warm regards,Uno Alla Volta Customer Care
